Although Resonate festival is announcing its 6th edition, I have heard about them recently through Zulal Kalkandelen. When I checked out their line-up, it seemed like a niche festival which definitely resonated with me.
Resonate festival lasts for four days between April 19th and April 22nd 2017, in Belgrade (Serbia) with a programme that brings together music and conference. The festival describes itself as “a platform for networking, information, knowledge sharing and education, that brings together top researchers and performers who regularly use technology to do their jobs.” The festival aims to provide an overview of current situation in the fields of music, visual arts and digital culture. When the complete programme is announced, I guess the depth of the festival will be much more clearly seen.
Another important thing about the Resonate festival is that as they have been a full member of the WE ARE EUROPE project since last year, they will also become a partner with world-famous festivals such as Sónar & Sónar+D (Barcelona, Spain) and Co/Pop Festival & Convention (Cologne, Germany).
Among the announced line-up, Biosphere, Stephen O’Malley (Sun O)))), Anna Von Hauswolf and Peder Mannerfelt have been the best for me so far and now I am looking forward to the full line-up. The conference speakers are from the digital world and music sector. I have watched a few of their talks and interviews on Youtube and think that it will be a nice balance out there. The most intriguing part could be the workshops although I don’t know what kind of activities people will be doing. More information will be available soon, I guess.
All in all, Resonate festival seems to be well-curated and is trying to offer a different experience by combining the digital world and music.
